Type the address above and click Check Crime Rate. You get the violent-crime rate for the area, compared against the state and national averages, using official FBI Crime Data Explorer reporting.
The FBI Crime Data Explorer — monthly crime reports submitted by law-enforcement agencies nationwide. The rate shown is for the agency nearest the address (usually the city police department), normalized per 100,000 residents.
No — and any tool that claims street-level rates from public data is overselling. FBI rates cover an agency's whole jurisdiction. For block-level detail, check your local police department's own incident map.
Not every agency reports to the FBI every month, and coverage outside cities can be sparse. Rural addresses may be served by a county sheriff whose data is reported differently.
The free InstaMaps Google Sheets add-on includes safety ratings per pin — put your shortlist of addresses in a sheet and see them all on one map with a color-coded rating each.
