Bulk postcode lookup: council, ward, constituency, deprivation

Paste a list of UK postcodes or addresses, or upload your spreadsheet, and get the council, ward, parish, parliamentary constituency, LSOA and its deprivation decile for each, with the flood zone and conservation area in England. Free, no account.

Quick answer

A bulk postcode lookup turns a list of postcodes into the areas each one sits in. Paste your postcodes or addresses below to get, for every row, the local council, electoral ward, parish, parliamentary constituency (2024 boundaries), the LSOA and its decile in England's Indices of Deprivation 2025, where 1 is the most deprived 10% of neighbourhoods, plus the Environment Agency flood zone and any conservation area.

Which addresses or postcodes are we looking up?

Or paste one address per line

UK addresses with a postcode, or postcodes on their own. Only the address is used for the check.

What you get for each row

The postcode (the nearest one, for a full address), country and region, the council and its ONS code, county where there is one, ward and its code, parish, parliamentary constituency, and the LSOA (2021) with its code. In England: the Index of Multiple Deprivation 2025 decile and rank (of 33,755 neighbourhoods) and the seven domain deciles, from income and employment to crime and living environment; the flood zone; any conservation area; and whether it's in the green belt. Your own columns stay in the download.

Where the data comes from

Councils, wards, parishes, constituencies and LSOAs from the ONS Postcode Directory (via postcodes.io). Deprivation from the English Indices of Deprivation 2025, published by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government. Flood zones from the Environment Agency's Flood Map for Planning, conservation areas and green belt from planning.data.gov.uk. All under the Open Government Licence.

Deprivation is England only: Wales and Scotland publish their own indices. A full address's areas come from its nearest postcode, which can sit across a ward boundary on a street that is the boundary.

FAQs

How do I find the ward and constituency for a list of postcodes?

Paste the postcodes above, one per line, or upload your spreadsheet. Every row comes back with its council, ward and constituency as new columns.

What is a deprivation decile?

England's 33,755 small neighbourhoods (LSOAs) are ranked from most to least deprived on the Index of Multiple Deprivation, then split into ten equal groups. Decile 1 is the most deprived 10%, decile 10 the least.

Which constituency boundaries does it use?

The 2024 parliamentary constituencies, the ones used at the 2024 general election.

Can I paste addresses instead of postcodes?

Yes. A full address is placed on the map first, and its areas come from the nearest postcode.

How many postcodes can I look up?

Up to 5,000 per list. The first 25 show straight away; enter a work email to look up the rest and download the whole file.

Do you keep my list?

Your postcodes are used to run the lookup. They aren't shared or sold.
