Common Issues
Salesforce Connection Issues
Problem: "Failed to connect to Salesforce"
Solutions:
- Ensure you're using valid Salesforce credentials
- Check that your Salesforce account has Reports API access
- Try disconnecting and reconnecting from Settings → Salesforce Connection
- Clear your browser cache and cookies, then retry
- Verify that your organization allows OAuth2 applications
Problem: "OAuth token expired"
Solutions:
- Tokens expire after 24 hours of inactivity
- Go to Settings → Salesforce Connection and click "Reconnect"
- You'll be prompted to re-authorize InstaMaps
Map Loading Issues
Problem: "No markers appearing on map"
Solutions:
- Verify that your Salesforce report contains address data
- Check that AI detected the correct address column (shown in report preview)
- If address column is wrong, manually select it from the dropdown
- Ensure addresses are properly formatted (Street, City, State ZIP)
- Check browser console for errors (F12 → Console tab)
Problem: "Map is loading slowly"
Solutions:
- Large reports (1,000+ rows) may take 30-60 seconds to geocode
- Enable "Use cached geocoding results" in Settings for faster repeated loads
- Try filtering your Salesforce report to reduce row count
- Use the Chrome Extension for faster data transfer
Filter Issues
Problem: "Filters not working as expected"
Solutions:
- Ensure filter values match exact text in Salesforce report (case-sensitive)
- For picklist filters, values must exactly match report picklist values
- Clear all filters and re-apply one at a time to isolate the issue
- Check that the report column you're filtering exists in the loaded data
Problem: "AI suggested filters are irrelevant"
Solutions:
- AI suggests filters based on common sales use cases
- You can hide suggested filters and create custom filters instead
- Provide feedback to improve AI suggestions (click "This filter isn't useful")
Export Issues
Problem: "Export to Salesforce failed"
Solutions:
- Verify you have "Create Reports" permission in Salesforce
- Check that "InstaMaps Saved Views" folder exists (created automatically on first export)
- If folder was deleted, export again to recreate it
- Ensure your filtered list has at least 1 account
- Try exporting as CSV instead, then manually upload to Salesforce
Problem: "Exported report is empty in Salesforce"
Solutions:
- Exported reports only include Account IDs and names by default
- Customize the report in Salesforce to add additional columns
- Use "Export to Campaign" instead to preserve all account data
Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
What Salesforce editions are supported?
InstaMaps works with Salesforce Professional, Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer editions. Salesforce Essentials does not support the Reports API.
How many reports can I map?
- Free tier: 5 saved views
- Pro tier: Unlimited saved views
Is my Salesforce data secure?
Yes. We use OAuth2 for authentication (we never see your password), all data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest, and we only access reports you explicitly load into InstaMaps.
Can I share maps with my team?
Yes! Invite team members to your organization from Settings → Team. They'll be able to view and create maps using your Salesforce connection.
How does geocoding work?
We use Google Maps Geocoding API to convert addresses to latitude/longitude coordinates. Geocoding results are cached to speed up future loads. We support US, Canadian, UK, and international addresses.
Billing & Pricing
What's included in the free trial?
14-day free trial with full Pro tier access. No credit card required. You can cancel anytime during the trial with no charges.
What happens after my trial ends?
You'll be automatically moved to the Free tier (1 org, 3 users, 5 saved views). You can upgrade to Pro ($49/month) anytime to unlock unlimited features.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes, cancel anytime from Settings → Billing. You'll retain access until the end of your billing period.
Chrome Extension
How do I install the Chrome Extension?
Visit the Chrome Web Store and search for "InstaMaps". Click "Add to Chrome" and grant permissions when prompted.
Why does the extension need Salesforce permissions?
The extension reads report data from Salesforce report pages to enable one-click mapping. It only accesses reports when you click "Generate Map".
Does the extension work on other browsers?
Currently Chrome only. Firefox and Edge support coming soon.
