HUBZone checker for a whole list

SBA's HUBZone map checks one address at a time. Paste or upload your employees' home addresses and see in seconds how many live in a HUBZone, and whether you meet the 35% residency rule. Free, no account.

Quick answer

An address is in a HUBZone if it falls in a qualified census tract, a qualified non-metropolitan county, Indian lands, a qualified disaster area or a governor-designated covered area on SBA's HUBZone map. To check a list, paste it below: each address is placed on the map and checked against SBA's current HUBZone areas, and you see the share that counts toward the 35% employee residency rule.

Whose addresses are we checking?

Or paste one address per line

US addresses with a house number and a state or ZIP. Only the address is used for the check.

How the 35% rule works

To be certified as a HUBZone small business, your principal office must be in a HUBZone and at least 35% of your employees must live in one. That means checking every employee's home address, and checking again as people join and as HUBZone areas change. Areas that lose qualifying status stay HUBZones for a while as "redesignated" areas; the checker shows the date each one stops counting.

Where the data comes from

The HUBZone areas are SBA's own published map layers: qualified census tracts, qualified non-metropolitan counties, Indian lands, qualified disaster areas and governor-designated areas, checked against today's date. Addresses are placed with our own US address data, and every row shows how sure we are of its location, so you know which ones to double-check on SBA's map.

This is a planning tool, not SBA's determination: SBA decides eligibility. Confirm borderline addresses on the official HUBZone map before you rely on them.

FAQs

Is this the official SBA HUBZone map?

No. It reads SBA's published HUBZone map layers and checks a whole list against them at once. SBA makes the eligibility decision, so confirm any borderline address on the official map.

How does the 35% employee rule work?

At least 35% of your employees must live in a HUBZone, and your principal office must be in one. The checker counts how many of your addresses fall in a HUBZone and tells you how many more you would need to reach 35%.

What does "redesignated" mean?

An area that loses its qualifying status keeps counting as a HUBZone for a period as a redesignated area. The checker shows the date each redesignated area stops counting, so you can plan for it.

Which kinds of HUBZone does it check?

Qualified census tracts, qualified non-metropolitan counties, Indian lands, qualified disaster areas and governor-designated covered areas.

How many addresses can I check?

Up to 5,000 per list. The first 25 show straight away; enter a work email to check the rest and download the whole file.

Do you keep my list?

Your addresses are used to run the check. They aren't shared or sold.
