FAQ

How do I find out what county an address is in?

Type the address into the box above and click Find the County. The address is located on the map and its county and state are returned in one click — no login needed.

Can I look up counties for a whole list of addresses?

Yes — paste up to 100 addresses, one per line, and download the results as a CSV with a county column added to every row.

Why do I need to know the county for an address?

County determines property taxes, school enrollment, permits and licensing, court jurisdiction, election districts, and insurance rates. Many government forms ask for it, and it rarely appears in the address itself.

Does it work outside the United States?

The lookup works worldwide, but the "county" level varies by country — in the UK you may get a county or district, elsewhere a province or region. For US addresses it is the county used by government services.

Is this free?

Yes — free, no login, no API key. If you want to see your whole list on a map by county, the free InstaMaps Google Sheets add-on does that too.
