## Introduction

 InstaMaps ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our Google™ Sheets™ territory mapping and route planning add-on. 

## Information We Collect

### Google™ Account Information

 We access your Google™ account email address and profile information for authentication purposes only. 

### Google™ Sheets Data

 We access the Google™ Sheets you explicitly choose to open in InstaMaps. We read address data and other columns for mapping and filtering purposes. 

### Usage Data

 We collect basic usage analytics to improve our service, including which features are used most frequently. 

## How We Use Your Information

* To provide mapping and routing services
* To geocode addresses using Google™ Maps API
* To generate filtered lists and export results
* To improve our service and user experience
* To communicate with you about updates and support

## Data Storage and Security

**Important:** We do NOT store your Google™ Sheets data on our servers. All data remains in your Google™ account. 

 Maps are generated on-demand and not cached. When you close InstaMaps, no data is retained on our infrastructure. 

 We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information during transmission and processing. 

## Third-Party Services

 InstaMaps uses the following third-party services: 

* **Google™ Maps API** \- For geocoding addresses and displaying maps
* **Google™ Sheets API** \- For reading and writing spreadsheet data
* **AI Services** \- For automatic address column detection

## The InstaMaps MCP Server (for Claude and Other AI Assistants)

 When you connect InstaMaps to an AI assistant, you sign in with Google™; we keep your email address to count your daily tool calls. To answer a tool call we process the rows you send or share: addresses, place names, coordinates and the other columns of the list. 

### What we keep, and for how long

 Each answer is kept for 30 days as a "run" so later tool calls can use it, and only you can read it. Maps you ask us to make are hosted at get-instamaps.com until you ask us to delete them; anyone with a map's link can view it. Background jobs keep their rows for 30 days. Rows that a tool could not answer perfectly are kept for 30 days to find and fix the cause. For each call we log which tool ran, whether it succeeded, how long it took and how many rows it carried, never the rows themselves. 

### Your sheets

 We read a Google™ Sheets file or Drive file only when you share it with our service account and pass its link. We write to a sheet only when you ask (the write\_to\_sheet tool), and only by adding new columns or a new tab; we never change or delete what is already there. 

### Who else sees the data

 To place addresses we send address text to service providers that process it for us and keep nothing of it beyond what they need to answer: an AI model provider that reads addresses into their parts, a decision model that scores candidate locations, postcodes.io (UK postcode and council lookups), OpenStreetMap's Nominatim and Overpass services (as fallbacks, and for road data near a route). Some answers come from public bodies' own services, asked at the time: for those we send the coordinates of your places to police.uk (recorded crime), FEMA (flood zones and natural hazard ratings) and the Food Standards Agency (food hygiene ratings, which may also need a business's name and address). To read a plain-English question about a table, we send the question, the column names and the values of short list columns to an AI model provider, never the rows. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising. 

### Deleting it

 Write to [werner.adewole@gmail.com](mailto:werner.adewole@gmail.com) to delete your runs and maps sooner. 

## Your Rights

* Access your data by viewing your Google™ Sheets
* Delete your data by removing the InstaMaps add-on
* Revoke Google™ Sheets access permissions at any time
* Request data deletion by contacting support
* Opt-out of analytics tracking (coming soon)

## Data Sharing

 We do NOT sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Your Google™ Sheets data is only accessed to provide mapping and routing services to you. 

## Updates to This Policy

 We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of InstaMaps after changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
